About Our Event
With support from Jewish National Fund, the Arava Institute advances cross-border environmental cooperation in the face of political conflict, and also educates and prepares future leaders from Israel, the Palestinian Territories, Jordan, and around the world to cooperatively solve the pressing environmental challenges of our time.
Arava Institute Alumnus
Mohammed Azraq was born to Jordanian parents in Kuwait City. A recipient of the Atkin Fellowship for Arab Israeli Peace at King’s College London, he published a paper on grassroots community initiatives for renewable energy generation in West Bank villages. Mohammed is developing a migration narrative project to help young Arab immigrants and Mizrahi/Sephardic Jews connect in Europe.
Arava Institute Alumna
Odeliya Matter was born and raised in Jerusalem with a short stint in Arizona, where her mother performed as a reform cantor. After her Israel Defense Forces (IDF) service Odeliya organized a delegation of volunteers to the Island of Lesvos, Greece to assist their refugee population. Upon her return to Israel in 2018, Odeliya studied at the Arava Institute where she developed her interest in the fields of grassroots activism, environmental development, and community-based collaborations.
Rabbi John Linder
John A. Linder has served as Senior Rabbi at Temple Solel, Paradise Valley, Arizona since 2008. Rabbi Linder was ordained at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in 2003 (Cincinnati), spending his first year of rabbinical school in Jerusalem with his wife Nancy and then 7-year old son David.
