Tu BiShvat Across America
Celebrate Tu BiShvat with Jewish National Fund
Jewish National Fund provides special opportunities to enhance the way you celebrate Tu BiShvat and connect to the land and people of Israel. We proudly think of Tu BiShvat, the world's first Earth Day, as JNF's holiday, as it embodies our dedication to Israel's environment. Here is where you will find Tu BiShvat resources to use for your classroom, access to JNF's tree-selling platform where you can win prizes for your school or community, and more.
Be sure to plant a tree for those you can't see. Now, it's more important than ever to let them know they are in your heart. Spread love and do good for the earth.
Running a Tree Campaign for Your School or Organization
JNF has planted over 260 million trees in Israel. While this is an impressive achievement, there is always a need for more, due to natural forest regrowth, forest fires, and arson. We encourage every student to help continue to build up Israel by planting one or more trees.
This year we are pleased to make ordering and planting your trees in Israel very simple. Each community can have their own online tree ordering platform.
A fundraising page will be created for your school, and you can then create a personal page for your class, and share the link with students, families, and faculty to make their purchases. Tree certificates will be fulfilled immediately and should be received in homes within two weeks. You will be able to keep track, in real time, how many trees your school has sold, by looking at your page’s thermometer. If you have not received your link by mid-January, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know, or you may search for your school’s link here.
If your school is not participating and you want to participate in our national tree-planting campaign, click here to buy a tree certificate or donate to our campaign.
Win Prizes for Planting Trees!
Now your school or organization has the chance to plant trees in Israel with JNF! Personalize your page and upload photos and videos that your students make, all while competing against other schools across the country to sell trees and win prizes!
Each school or organization that participates in our annual tree competition will be entered for a chance to win two round-trip tickets to Israel. In addition, based on your school’s volume of tree sales, you can earn cash prizes. The more trees you plant, the bigger the prize money.
Schools or groups that plant 100 trees or more ($1800+) will receive special recognition listing at American Independence Park in Jerusalem. A certificate will also be sent to the school.
Prize levels are based on collective tree purchases for the whole school. Online tree sales must be completed by Monday, March 1, 2021 to be included in our raffle and to win some great cash prizes!
Level 1*: Every school that plants 50 trees
or more will receive $180.
Level 2*: Every school that plants 100 trees
or more will receive $360.
Level 3*: Every school that plants 200 trees
or more will receive $720.
*Please note that prizes are not cumulative.
We are excited to announce 500 schools and youth groups across the country are participating in this year's Tu BiShvat Across America campaign! This year’s program is called “The Trees in Your Neighborhood,” in which students investigate what attributes of different trees are beneficial to us and to Israel. Students will learn from printed text sources and online videos that will provide information about their state tree and the importance of trees in Israel. Downloadable PDFs and videos are available below.
